![]() Early Sunday morning tractors started to arrive At Berrishoole Abbey car park for a Tractor Run, which was going to be filmed by Esras Films for a documentary to be shown on Cogar TG4 later this year. The company had already filmed an Allis Chalmens tractor being stripped and painted. By late morning 36 tractors were ready to move and we headed off to Derrada Village Hall for much appreciated tea and sandwiches. |
![]() After the break we headed over hills and hollows, passing lakes and viewing the stunning scenery in Mayo. We headed towards the salmon hatchery at Furnace where we halted to await the film crew catch up with us. After they had rejoined us we continued onto the hostel at Furnace, turing sharp right and heading back towards the crossroads on the road half way up the hillside. . |
![]() Although there were occassional blustery showers, when the sun shone
the views were fantastic. We progressed back to Derrada Hall for the
welcome bowl of soup, curry, sandwiches and other delights, with most
tractors arriving back for 4pm.
|
![]() Throught the journey there were numerous halts to allow the camera crew to position themselves for the next shots. This gave us plenty of time to check over our vehicles and enjoy the excellent views . |

In the hall we were supplied by music from the Gallagher Bros, and most people where heading home by 6pm. Also on the run were a few cars and motorbikes who were able to to continue onto a scenic drive to Achill, and they rejoined us at the hall later in the afternoon for tea and a chat. Many, many thanks to Michael, John and the team for organising the day. Also great appreciation for the ladies who made and served the food. A Great Day Out! (Frank Davidson) |
